Captain Jack Sparrow and Hulk Hogan!

More Movember sketches!

Day 9, a donor requested Captain Jack Sparrow! Lots of detail on his outfit to simplify.

Day 10, I had to do Hulk Hogan – this one was fun to do with cutout construction paper because he is just made up of colours and shapes 🙂

Movember sketch: Gangnam-style.

Another donor request – well, actually, her kids requested that I draw Psy – with a moustache. Who am I to disappoint the people??

Once again, please consider donating to support our Bros!!

Day 7, onto Day 8!!

Mendez and his stache.

I cannot stand the character of Mendez on “Orange is the New Black”….. but he has a good stache. Movember sketch Day 6 is his!

Movember catch-ups.

What do Chaplin, Sam Elliott and Wolverine have in common???

Almost nothing.

Except they were requests in my Movember sketch challenge! If people give money to this cause, they earn the right to suggest a drawing! So here is Day 3, 4 and 5!

Movember Drawing, Day 2!

My first donor made a suggestion for a Movember drawing, so here it is, Day 2! Superman.. a la ‘stach!!

I can’t grow a moustache – but I can draw one!!

I was thinking as Inktober was ending… hmmm, I should keep drawing. Someone suggested, why not do a Movember theme? I thought it could be fun to think of 30 [31?] different sketches of moustaches and different styles to draw them in……. and THEN I thought, why NOT try to raise some moulas for this great cause whilst my pencil is running amok??

So [with help from Tams of course] I quickly created a Movember profile, and just finished my first sketch! I thought Kip from Napoleon Dynamite was a good place to start on the moustache spectrum.

My plate is pretty full, but this is a great way for me to put some pressure on myself and support my Bros in the process.

Please consider donating and kicking my butt a bit further down the road to keep the drawings comin’! Click here to donate: http://ca.movember.com/mospace/8179729

Inktober comes to an end on Halloween.

What a great month of stretching myself and my pride, and getting encouraged by friends and other artists to just keep making art! Saw some AMAZING art created by artists I know and admire, wow. And what an awesome way to rediscover the joys of ink and paper. I will surely miss you Inktober, but onto something new!

With some suggestions from friends, I thought I would end this in Halloween-ish style, with help from ET, Beetlejuice and Gizmo.

Sketching “Psycho”.

Trying an exercise I haven’t done in a while…. watching a favourite film, pausing it whenever I like the composition, and trying to sketch it as fast as possible. Since I am [more than] slightly obsessed with anything Hitchcock created, and it’s almost Halloween, “Psycho” seemed appropriate. These didn’t all turn out, but with the good drawings come the… not so good ones.

Onto the next scene!

Halloween-inspired Inktober’s.

Work has been really busy, and I can’t post the stuff I work on… so I am always trying to do a daily drawing of my own…. especially right now with Inktober!

One is a retro-inspired suggestion by my wife, and the other is a film-inspired sketch from “Hocus Pocus”. I got some commissions to work on too….. gotta get drawing!

Crafting a card.

I used to make a ton of homemade cards, but I did mostly little watercolor designs. Lately though, I have become obsessed with using craft paper cutouts. So fun to get back to the second grader inside and just use scissors and glue!

I needed to do a card for friends of ours moving away to Cambodia to do some amazing work with the kids there. With some idea help from my brilliant wife, here’s how it turned out.
