LGBTQ Christian Resources

When I was struggling to reconcile my faith with my sexuality through my teen years and into my 20’s, I constantly struggled to find resources that would encourage me to embrace them both. There were many Christian resources that encouraged the ex-gay message, and there were many gay resources that didn’t talk about God or Jesus – and if they did, it was usually in hurt or anger.

This is why I wrote my book, STILL STACE: My Gay Christian Coming-of-Age Story.

Thankfully now, there are some resources out there that deal specifically with reconciling faith and sexuality. Most of these resources are at the back of my book, but I am posting them here and will update with new trusted ones I find. These are also available on the SheLoves website – along with this amazing webinar we did to talk about owning my gay Christian story!

I would highly recommend this 90 minute video by Kathy Baldock – a powerhouse Ally in the LGBTQ Christian community, entitled “Untangling the Mess”. (2016) About this video – “Kathy Baldock unrolls an 18-foot timeline and helps us make sense of political, religious, and social milestones from the Old Testament through 2016. Workshop recorded October 21, 2016 at the Reformation Project Los Angeles Conference.”

Lastly (I really think Kathy is an INCREDIBLE resource, y’all) – here is a video she did at the QCF Conference in 2021 entitled “How the Bible Has Become a Sacred Weapon”. (Her new book with the same title and an accompanying documentary are releasing in late 2022!)

Another amazing friend and resource is fellow gay Christian Justin Lee! He was the first gay Christian I heard about when I came out in 2010, and his work and heart are a constant encouragement to me. His book “Torn” (listed below under books) is his amazing memoir, and he has many, MANY videos like this on his YouTube channel. Subscribe and support him!
