For the past 5+ years, I have spoken all over the lower mainland here in BC! In April 2026, I toured with the Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC) in Montreal & Quebec City! (photo from tour below)

Topics I speak about:
- working as a professional artist in animation and illustrating books
- faith, sexuality & authenticity, being a queer artist/author in today’s climate (Still Stace)
- the author/illustrator traditional publishing journey, having an agent
- working on banned/challenged books & dealing with pushback (creating queer kidlit)
- social justice, advocacy and representation of the LGBTQ+ community in kids books
I absolutely love speaking with students about illustrating and writing children’s books and working as a professional artist in the animation industry.

Speaking testimonials

“A very positive impact was experienced. Intrigue, inspiration, and validation were key impacts that were a direct result from the presentation. One participant wanted to know if Stacey could return for further instruction and requested to read her books. A parent wrote to thank us for coordinating and hosting the event.”
-Melanie Phillips, Kahnawake Library, Kahnawake, QC
“Stacey’s visit was very well received. The teachers who were there said it went really well and that Stacey was a wonderful presenter. The students were especially engaged because Stacey had worked on projects which spoke to their childhood. Apparently the Q and A could have continued on past the allotted time.”
– Chantal Chapson, Illustration Department, Dawson College, Montreal
“The students loved learning about the illustration side of story making.”
-Jody Wilson, teacher, Westmount Park School (Westmount, QC)

“Stacey spoke to students during a multi-school extension of the Queer Out Here Conference in Fernie. She made students feel seen, heard, and supported. Many knew her beforehand and were so excited to hear about her passion for art and teaching queer content. I would 1 million times over recommend her to speak at any event.”
– Danielle Gibson, Teacher in Fernie, BC
Queer Faith?
I love speaking at schools and colleges, but I also speak at conferences and churches on the intersectionality of sexuality and faith! If you have a queer or inclusive faith conference I may be a good fit to speak at, let me know!
